I have been using the Olfa Rotary cutters since they first became available to quilters. This one has an ergonomic to fit the hand well. It is easy to change the blade and the only problem I have with it is that it is not easy to change to left handed use. I would recommend the Omnigrid cutter for ambidexterous use which is important to me as I don’t care to move the fabric around and there are times when it is awkward to move the matt.

This cutter smoothly slices through upholstery fabric. Blade replacement is simple and intuitive and you can swap it to either the left or right side (I am left handed). I like the locking mechanism, it makes me feel a bit more safer with that satisfying click.
With a Fiskars 18″x24″ Self Healing Cutting Mat, I am able to trace around some basic patterns, but for detail work, the smaller diameter blade might be nicer. A large mat could be idea depending on how much space you have. Fiskars has a folding mat, which appeals to me, but I haven’t tried it.
I purchased this for less than the MRSP (yay!) and liked it enough that I obtained a pink one along with a pinking blade (fun!). Good luck with your research!
